Jinkies!
Posted in Just silly, Pleasant Surprises on January 2nd, 2008A mystery is solved, gang. As some of you may know, I’ve been receiving random and annoying text messages from some company paging system for the past year or so. They were mostly automated messages on the status of the system, who to call in regards to certain events, who now gets the paperwork for things, etc., etc. Nothing that could bring a business down, but still confidential internal stuff. Any names that were included were first names only; no last name, number or any other identifying info.
That was until yesterday’s New Year’s greeting: “HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU & YOUR FAMILY CONGRATS ON A GREAT 2007 AND [2nd text message begins] BEST WISHES FOR A GREATER 2008!!” It was signed, and a Google search matched the name on the message to a prominent local real estate broker. I sent an email to his office, and it turns out that my number was, in fact, erroneously entered into their paging system. It has now been removed.
It’s a little thing, but one less minor annoyance in this world is always welcome.
