Bad memory.

Okay, so the last entry was just a longer version of the previous entry. It’s my bloggy and I’ll repeat myself if I want to.

More bullshit you don’t care about

Well, I solved my tech support issues with Yahoo. It was just a matter of creating a new account. Which means there’s a problem with the old yahoo.ca account, and likely the only reason that that email (and very little else) still works is because I’m paying for it through Rogers. I tried re-uploading my Geocities web sites only to have them deleted again. If what I’ve been reading about Yahoo’s MO recently holds true, as soon as Rogers isn’t my ISP anymore, that account will be completely locked out and all my emails, addresses, stored photos, etc. will be lost. That account is already locked out of Yahoo 360 and all the premium music services I’m paying for. Is anyone answering my questions as to why? Of course not. In fact Rogers told me that my support issues were with Yahoo and I should contact them directly. The contact info Rogers gave me for Yahoo’s service department was an email address that went to someone at Rogers.

It sucks because I’ve had that Yahoo account for years, and it’s become pretty entrenched in my everyday life. Now I’m going through the crap of moving all my stuff off of there before it disappears. I’ve got a new email address (if you haven’t received it but think you should have, leave a comment here and I’ll send it to you). I’ve switched my Yahoo Messenger to my new account (see bracketed comment regarding email) so as I can listen to the music channels, but that account will also disappear once I dump Rogers (as it’s an @rogers email and not an @yahoo one), so don’t get too attached to it.

Just goes to show you that you shouldn’t put too much trust in all of these nifty internet companies offering suites of “free” services. Does anyone in town know of a good bare-bones get-me-on-the-internet-and-shut-up ISP in town?

Bloody Yahoos

I re-uploaded my site to Geocities, and it was deleted again. No notice, no reasons, nothing. Screw them.

I’m gonna be switching from my Yahoo email. If you think I should have your email address and haven’t received an email from me about my new one, leave a comment and I’ll send it to you.

Cannonball!

Posted in It's All About Me, Out And About, Work is Heck, Old Livejournal Archives on May 22nd, 2007

I’m captioning Cannonball Run at work right now. I picked it off the shelf because I remember it being a fun movie. From a captioning-logistics standpoint, though, it was a huge mistake. I’d forgotten how many characters were in this movie. Brain go bye-bye now.

But the weekend was pretty good. I was going shopping for stuff with Wendi, but I didn’t find anything I was looking for. I did, however, discover the joys of shopping with a woman who hates shopping. She needed shoes, and I suspected that would be the death of me. Instead, we got into Zellers and she was like, “These fit and they’re not hideous. Let’s go.” Nice.

Yesterday I pretty much chilled out except for some cleaning. I’ve almost returned my apartment to its pre-3-week-flu state. Just in time for summer!

Exciting, eh?

First long weekend of the summer!

And so it begins. For those of you who give a rat’s ass, here’s what I have planned.

Gonna see my lady on Saturday. Haven’t seen her in over a month and a half due to her being busy, me being sick, then both of us being busy. This should be fun.

Sunday it’s back home and… no plans. Probably cleaning the apartment.

On Monday, I have a nice, long bike ride scheduled, followed by… no plans. Maybe I’ll catch a movie and continue the aforementioned cleaning.

All in all, a nice, lazy long weekend for me. That’s just the way I likes it.

Also today, my Grade 9 math course arrived in the mail. I’s gonna be smrt.

Brush With Celebrity

I was buying me some summer shoes today, and who was behind me in the line? None other than the star of This Hour Has 22 Minutes and a host of CBC one-offs, Mary Walsh.

What, you were expecting Jessica Simpson? This is Canada, after all.

What Really Happened

Posted in Out And About, Just silly, Old Livejournal Archives on May 15th, 2007

First, what really happened after the original Death Star blew up.

And now what happened on the weekend. It’s nothing nearly as exciting. Took my mom out for lunch on Saturday, and on Sunday my dad gave me his bike. It’s just a Wal-Mart Special, but it’s better than the Curbside Special I’ve been riding. I was riding a red bike, and now I’m riding a black bike. It’s my Venom bike.

Speaking of which, I saw Spider-Man 3 on Sunday with James. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t bother. Yeah, the special effects were okay, but that’s about it. You’ll enjoy it much more if you catch it on TV than if you spend $15 to see it in the theatre. When the special effects reels weren’t rolling, it was nothing but a bad soap-opera plot complete with amnesia. I also had a lot of trouble buying Eric Foreman as a bad guy. Just sad.

Of course…

… I could just be having a mid-life crisis. What the hell. Whatever works.

Back to Work

Posted in It's All About Me, Work is Heck, S-M-R-T, Old Livejournal Archives on May 11th, 2007

Here I am, after a whole lot of time away. Feels weird to be a productive member of society again. I kinda wish I had enough money to live that lazy life. Of course, I’d get bored.

So I’ve decided that I’m going back and doing some book-learning. I haven’t decided what path I’m going to take yet, but it’ll likely be some online degree course seeing as I can’t take a couple of years off work to go to school. There’s a technical writing certificate program I’m interested in. I’ve also been thinking of going back to Athabasca University to finish up that communications degree. In case I decide to go in a completely different direction, I’ll be spending the summer upgrading my math skills through the Independent Learning Centre. Hell, it’s cheap enough (a lot cheaper than taking university-level mathematics upgrading courses, for sure). This morning I sent off my application to Grade 9 mathematics. Figure I’ll start back at the beginning and see if I’m any better at it now than I was back in the day.

So what brought this on, you ask? While I was sitting at home alone, a few things came to mind. First off, I was reading about the meridian expedition that measured the earth in order to come up with the standard metre. Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre, one of the lead scientists in the expedition, didn’t take up astronomy until his mid-30s, but still managed to have a respectable career. That was in the late 1700s. My life expectancy is a lot longer than his (knock wood), and even if it takes me until I’m 40 to finish schooling and I retire at 65 (which is looking less and less likely), that’s a 25-year span of time to build a respectable career of my own.

Seeing as my plan to win the lottery has fallen through (as has my backup plan of marrying rich), I’ll give this a shot.
