This is kinda cool.

I caught this guy at the end of some late-night talk show last night. I thought he was freakin’ amazing.

Spring Cleaning

If there was ever a day I wished I owned an air ionizer, it was yesterday. Hell, I don’t even have dust allergies, but I was coughing and my eyes were itching like crazy. I did, however, manage to clear a whole lot of space through organizing, donating, selling, discarding, bookcrossing and freecycling loads and loads of stuff. Even living in a small space, it’s amazing how much crap I’d been carrying around that I haven’t used or looked at in years.

The rest of the weekend was pretty cool, too. I went with Wendi and a couple of her friends to a taping of the Rick Mercer Report season finale, caught a flick at the new Brunswick Theatre and did some good old-fashioned weekend loafing.

Part of my loafing was spent watching Revenge of the Sith. I hadn’t seen it before, got yelled at by several people on St. Patty’s Day for not seeing “the best Star Wars movie since Empire,” and figured since I suffered through the other 2, I might as well check it out. There was only 1 condition: I wasn’t going to give that George Lucas fuckhead another cent of my money. Thank you, Toronto Public Library.

Yeah, Revenge of the Sith sucked. I’ve blogged extensively about the problem with movies these days, and Sith epitomizes every single one of those problems. I’m not even going to give it any more press.

Today I’m tired and feel icky. Looking forward to going back to sleep.

Fuck.

Yes, I am pissed off about Geocities deleting all my web sites, thank you very much. I put a lot of work for a lot of years into the old Blogstomp, and I’m not happy at all that it’s gone.

Luckily I did a lot of it in Blogger, so the entries were still saved. Read the oldest entries here and the last ones here. The problem is, a lot of entries in the middle are gone for good. I was using server-installed software for a while, so the only archive was — you guessed it — deleted. I had some good drunken rants in those days, too.

And now I’m not really sure I trust Livejournal. Who knows what could happen at the flick of a switch, and there’d be nothing I can do about it.

Time to find some blogging alternatives… alternatives that can be easily backed up.

Nothing to see here.

Just checking in on some of my internet properties.

I did notice that Geocities deleted my site for some reason. Both my regular Geocities and Geocities Canada sites. Bastards. One more reason to get my ass in gear and work on my personal site at my spiffy new domain name.

Yeah, boring. While my cousin and her new hubby from Austria were here, I was too tired to write anything about their trip. Nothing exciting happened there, either. Walked around in the cold, slushy weather.

Hurry your ass up, summer.

Sometimes you get what you need.

The office is closed due to the weather. I was going to go in anyway because I had some work to do, but that work has been reassigned to someone else, so woo-hoo! I’m stayin’ home.

Man, I can barely see the condo across the street. Got some good snow downtown.

Something else weird happened today. You’re used to reading about my horrible experiences with couriers on this blog. Well, I actually had prompt and courteous service from Purolator today. Go figure. Yesterday I ordered one of those emergency radio thingies a couple of days ago, because the web site had a one-day sale. I figured $25 was a good deal. I also got some CD-Rs because they were on sale, too. For both items, shipping was only 99 cents — another good deal.

Anyway, the guy actually showed up on time and dropped off the package when it was supposed to be here. This is the first time in years that I haven’t had a long story attached to a package. It feels… strange. And it’s a good time the emergency radio came when it did. A couple hours after I got it, this work-closing storm kicked in. I may get some use out of this thing.

I need a day off.

Luckily I’m getting a week off in a couple of weeks. Lookin’ forward to it.

I’ve been stupid-busy lately. An article I’m working on was supposed to be on a meeting that took place a couple of weeks ago. I think I’ve learned to hand my stuff in quickly for this particular publication, because now the article is about what happened after the meeting, people’s reactions to it, blah, blah, blah. Oh, and even though it’s due on the 18th of March, they want to see something tomorrow so it can be taken to ANOTHER meeting. I ain’t being paid; it’s not gonna happen.

Tomorrow will consist of a lot of running round, including a trip to the dentist who will refer me to an oral surgeon who will do a biopsy on some weird lesion in my mouth. Good times.

Oh, and today the boss offered a “coaching session” because “a few people” in the office apparently don’t like me for some undisclosed reason. Of course, nobody has said anything to my face. So as far as I’m concerned, they’re all the enemy. I’m not talking to anybody around here. Fuck ‘em all. I’m not going to get down to the level of high-school politics for a job that’s likely going to disappear in a few months anyway.
